Honey contains natural Hydrogen peroxide. Iron in honey oxidizes the oxygen free radicals released by the hydrogen peroxide.
Method for lightening hair color with Honey:
  • Mix 3/4 cup honey with 1/12 cups water
  • Apply to damped hair. Wrap hair in saran wrap or a plastic shower cap.
  • Let sit for up to 8 hours, then rinse. Honey can also be used a moisturizing treatment. But it can remove artificial hair color.
Chamomile has been used as a natural hair lightener for countless years. A chamomile hair rinse is best used on blondes to brighten and add shine to the hair. When chamomile is used on brunettes, you’ll get a very subtle effect of sun kissed highlights that appear slightly red or copper in color. Take a look at our  Chamomile shampoo recipe here
Method for lightening hair color with Chamomile:
  • Place 1/2 cup of dried or fresh chamomile flowers in 6 cups of boiling water for 30 minutes
  • Strain the infusion and allow to cool
  • Shampoo and condition hair as normal with any brand..
  • Tip head over bathtub or sink. Use a bowl underneath to catch the liquid. Pour the tea through towel-dried hair at least 3 times to ensure all strands are thoroughly saturated.
  • Place a shower cap on saturated hair for 30 minutes, then rinse with clean water.
Lemon. Using lemon juice is one of the most effective natural ways to lighten hair. As with all natural hair lightening methods, this works best for blondes. Darker hair shades will lighten but will see more coppery tones to the hair.
Methods for lightening hair color with Lemon Juice:
  • With lemons, you need heat. Best to sit in the sun or wrap hair with saran wrap then apply heat with a blowdryer. But the sun does work the best
  • Dilute the lemon juice with 3 parts juice, 1 part water. Mix in a spray bottle and apply to hair before sunning.
  • You can also add 1 tbs of Olive oil to the mixture  to combat the drying effects of the lemon juice on the hair
  • Always condition after using lemon juice to lighten the hair! Lemon juice is very drying on the hair.
